“NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE” exhibition
To celebrate its 40 years of commitment and support for design, the VIA (“Valorisation de l’Innovation dans l’Ameublement”, or Enhancement of Innovation in Furnishing) introduces the “NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE” exhibition in partnership with the French Institute.
Asked to deliver their vision of French Design, 40 French and international professionals from different sectors (designers, philosophers, industrialists, artists, journalists, gallery owners, photographers, etc.) were invited to form a scientific committee. It’s mission? To define the essence of “French Design” and then select 40 master pieces to represent it.
40 iconic objects were selected to embody ten essential values: lifestyle, elegance and luxury, cultural openness, balance, expertise, flair, audacity, heritage, creativity and industry, and sustainable innovation.
The BEN HUR chair was selected to represent “audacity”, a design by Jean Paul Gaultier for Roche Bobois.
The NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE exhibition was inaugurated at the Salone del Mobile, at the French Institute of Milan. It featured original scenography designed by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.
The exhibition will then travel to more than 20 countries, becoming one of the major international events in the design and furniture sector.
