French-Portuguese designer Toni Grilo was born in Nancy in 1979. Graduating from the Ecole Boulle in Paris in 2001, he immediately left for Lisbon. At the edge of Europe, and rediscovering his roots, he discovered a country with a rich industrial and artisanal heritage and fell in love with the techniques and material work involved. Working out of his studio in Porto, Grilo specialises in industrial design, furniture and set design. His latest projects include the marble and resin-coated wire-framed Zag end table for Roche Bobois.
