SPANISH FASHION DESIGNERS “DRESS” THE MAH JONG

Roche Bobois, with its exhibition "Encuentros con la Moda Española" (Meeting with Spanish Fashion), invited ten of Spain’s most celebrated fashion designers to customise a seat unit of the brand’s iconic sofa, the Mah Jong, encouraging them to express all of their talent and creativity through a unique creation.

The aim is twofold: firstly, to raise funds for a charity but equally to strengthen the ties between the worlds of fashion and design.

Starting with just a seat cushion (in white), each fashion designer was given carte blanche to reinterpret the Mah Jong. The ten fashion designers invited to partake in this exclusive event were Agatha Ruiz of Prada, Andrés Sardá, Avellaneda, Custo Barcelona, Devota & Lomba, Ion Fiz, Juana Martín, Purificación García, Rossy de Palma and Xevi Fernández.

The collection of works was unveiled at the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week in June, following which a travelling exhibition of the pieces began. Until the end of October, the exhibition will continue travelling through major Spanish cities such as Marbella, Valencia and Bilbao.

The ten designs are now part of an online auction run by auctioneers Wardhouse, from the 20th October until midday on the 2nd November: www.subastaswardhouse.com
