After its tour of Montreal, London, Brooklyn, San Francisco and Paris, Roche Bobois is proud to sponsor the The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier, From Catwalk to Sidewalk at the Kunsthalle, Munich. The exhibition will take place, from 18th September 2015 until 14th February 2016, showcasing a retrospective of the world renowned French fashion designer's work.
On September 16th, more than 800 people gathered at the exquisite event to celebrate the opening of the exhibition at the Kunsthalle in Munich. As a partner, Roche Bobois was pleased to furnish a lounge area that was very successful!
Dating from the 1970s to present day, this display of unreleased pieces from both Gaultier’s Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear collections, invites visitors to rediscover the work of one of the most remarkable designers of our time.
Commenting on the partnership, Jean Paul Gaultier announced:
‘Dressing furniture for Roche Bobois has been an exciting exploration of creative ground for me. I have always loved creatively dressing models and furniture but at least with the latter they don’t complain when you accidentally jab them with a pin!’
Gilles Bonan, CEO of Roche Bobois, stated, ‘Fashion and interior design have long shared a creative affinity, valuing above all beauty, boldness and dynamism as well as fine craftsmanship and an eye for detail’.
He adds, "For Roche Bobois it's a logical and natural partnership. We're proud to once again support the internationally acclaimed French artist, Jean Paul Gaultier".
Roche Bobois began collaborating with Jean Paul Gaultier in 2010 to create exclusive fabric and furniture collections. This established partnership is testament to the close relationship between fashion and interior design. The merging of Jean Paul Gaultier’s creative and original style with Roche Bobois' skilled craftsmanship has allowed for the creation of designs that are as inventive as they are beautiful.
Having previously sponsored this prestigious exhibition’s displays at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, at the Barbican in London and at the Grand Palais in Paris, Roche Bobois’ decision to support the retrospective in Munich further helps to support an artist with whom the brand shares the same values of innovation, creativity and modernity.
