ORA‑ITO is both the label and the name of the French designer who, at just 19 years old, created the world’s first virtual brand. Born in 1977, this iconoclastic creator gained international recognition in the late 1990s by producing 3D reinterpretations of products from major global brands such as Vuitton, Apple, Nike, and Bic. After widespread media coverage, fiction turned into reality when consumers began searching for these imaginary products, and online orders poured into the ORA‑ITO website — eventually becoming the second digital artwork ever acquired by the French National Contemporary Art Fund (FNAC). The ORA‑ITO table, produced by Roche Bobois, received the highest distinction at the 2014 Red Dot Award — “Best of the Best” in Product Design — celebrating the excellence of its conception, design, and execution.
