As the first Japanese stylist to make waves in Paris, Kenzo Takada’s particularly innovative style features original combinations borrowed from the world of Parisian fashion and Japanese poetry. In the 1970s, he introduced his mixed style to the world, showcasing a distinctive fashion interweaving eastern and western influences. From the 1980s, he started designing menswear, explored the world of perfume and embarked on multiple collaborations. For Roche Bobois, Kenzo Takada has designed exceptional collections of fabrics and ceramics. They feature the designer’s hallmark graphic and cultural signatures: a mixed aesthetic, color mastery, and subtle patterns. In dressing the iconic Mah Jong sofa, he drew inspiration from the historical kimonos worn in Japan’s Noh theatre, revisiting their patterns and color schemes.
