ROCHE BOBOIS DESIGN AWARD 2020

Always on the lookout for new talent, Roche Bobois continues to tour the best design schools in the world to make its work known and meet up-and-coming talent, giving promising individuals the opportunity to collaborate with the brand. Fascinated by the excellence of contemporary Japanese design and its ability to combine cutting-edge creativity with traditional techniques, this sixth edition was held in Japan in partnership with Musashino Art University (MAU) in Tokyo.

Under the supervision of associate professor Yamanaka Kazuhiro, 25 students (all completing their fourth year in Industrial, Interior and Craft design) presented their individual projects with a focus on the fusion between traditional Japanese expertise and new technologies or innovative materials. Although not all designs by the five winners will be produced, several will be showcased in our stores this spring: the spectacular console designed by Soichiro Tanaka in classic marble with a slanted frame is one of them.

We look forward to following the progress of these promising and talented young designers in the coming years.
