Design Maurice Barilone

Three months of research in the workshop were necessary for designer-sculptor Maurice Barilone to obtain the aerial shape of these curved sheets that make up the base. They are cut, subjected to 1500 kg of pressure, welded together, and re-polished before adding the desired finish. The beauty of these pieces is the look of lightness that is created out of this thick metal. The reflections created by the galvanisation (available in gold, copper, chrome-plated, or black nickel finish) or the vibrant coloured chrome-plated finish give it a refined look. ...

Base in 10mm-thick sheet of steel, cut and shaped. Top in 15mm-thick tempered glass. Other finishes available.

Maurice Barilone

Maurice Barilone believes that it is the role of the designer to “to reveal the element in every object that brings it alive”. A non-conformist approach and an unerring passion for his art have led to the creation of a number of highly sculptural collections for Roche Bobois during Barilone’s 30-year partnership with the company, including the Kyoto range and Murano tables.
